In 1947, United China & Glass of New Orleans commissioned Zeisel to design a dinnerware set, which became some of the first chinaware produced in Japan (by Meito) after WWII -- so soon after the war that much of it was bottom stamped "Made in Occupied Japan."
The voluptuous shapes of this line have been widely noted. All are bottom stamped Meito Norleans China.
