We have a long history of educating ourselves about Eva Zeisel and her designs. What started many years ago with a desire to fill out the family dinnerware set which had been passed down to us soon became a obession to learn as much as possible about this mid-century design icon. About two years after starting our personal collection we formed the Eva Zeisel Collectors Club, for the purpose of providing a venue for information exchange and the buying the selling of items among Zeisel collectors. A few years after that we changed the name of the group to Eva Zeisel forum, in order to include the many people of the design, museum and collecting worlds who do not necessarily collect Zeisel designs but who want to learn about her unbelievably large body of work - she estimates that she has designed some 10,000 items.
During this time we continued to collect, but also loaned parts of our collection to exhibits, and started writing a book on Zeisel's oeuvre (with the help of many members of the Eva Zeisel forum), a job which continues to this day. Somewhere along the way we realized that the desire to collect "one of each shape and one of each pattern" had gotten out of hand, and when we recently found that we would have to move the collection to a larger storage space we began to come to our senses. We are now in the process of deciding what is reasonable assemblage of Zeiselania and what is not - to your benefit we hope.
